Material language changes the listening expectation. Brass suggests a complex metal ring. Glassy direction favors a clearer, more delicate set of partials. A school bell needs a recognizable repeated signal. A ceremonial cue relies on scale, patience, and room decay.

Build variations around one purpose. For a wedding edit, compare two strike strengths while keeping the venue and apparent size stable. For a door cue, test decay lengths around the next line. This makes selection easier than comparing unrelated bells.
