Best AI music generators for video

Nine tools compared on the job a video creator actually has: a finished video that needs music. Which ones take the video as input, how many steps to a downloaded video, what it costs, and what the licence covers.

Most AI music generators write a song from a prompt; a few now start from the video itself. If you already have the video, the questions that matter are whether the tool reads it, whether you get a video back or only an audio file to line up in an editor, and whether the licence covers where you post. Each fact below links to the vendor’s own page.

Updated October 2026 · Sonilo makes one of the tools on this list, so every claim about the others links to that tool's own page.

TL;DR

  • Fewest steps from a video to a finished video: Sonilo (we make it). 3 steps, music written from the cut, sound effects and dubbing from the same upload.
  • Best audio models and an API for every kind of audio: ElevenLabs. Its video to music gives you audio synced to the video.
  • Most control over the music: ACE Studio’s Video Composer, on a desktop production timeline.
  • A sung soundtrack on a short clip: Mureka’s Soundtrack tab, videos up to 3 minutes.
  • Making the video itself from a script: Fliki.
  • Songs with vocals, not tied to a video: Suno.
  • Background tracks you shape by settings: Soundraw or Beatoven.ai; long beds and an API for apps: Mubert.

How we ranked

Sonilo is first because this list ranks tools for one job, a finished video that needs music, and two things back that place.

  • Steps. Of the tools whose flow we could count from their own pages, Sonilo takes the fewest from a video file to a downloaded video with music: 3, against 5 for Fliki, 6 for Mureka and 6 for ACE Studio.
  • Measured audio quality. audio_eval, an open source evaluation toolkit (MIT license; its citation file lists authors at The Chinese University of Hong Kong), publishes automatic metric results that include Sonilo models:
    • Text to music on MusicCaps: Sonilo Music v1.1 against Suno v5.5. Sonilo comes out ahead on 10 of 13 metrics, including text match (CLAP), KL divergence and all four Fréchet distances. Suno is ahead on three Audiobox aesthetics measures: content usefulness, production complexity and production quality.
    • Sound effects from video: Sonilo Sound Effects 1.0 against Mirelo v1.6, ahead on 12 of 15 metrics on Movie Gen Audio Bench and on all 15 on CineBench, which the repository describes as an internal eval set.
    • Sound effects from text: Sonilo Sound Effects 1.0 against ElevenLabs Sound Effects v2 and Mirelo v1.6, best on 9 of 12 metrics on Clotho and on 7 of 12 on AudioCaps (one of them tied with ElevenLabs). ElevenLabs is best on the other 3 Clotho metrics and on 4 AudioCaps metrics, Mirelo on 2.

What this does not show: audio_eval does not test music written from video, and it does not include ElevenLabs Music, ACE Studio, Mureka, Fliki, Beatoven.ai, Soundraw or Mubert. Automatic metrics are not listening tests. After Sonilo, tools that write music from the video come before tools that work from a description; beyond that the order is our editorial judgement, not measured quality.

How we checked

On October 3, 2026 we read each vendor’s own product, pricing and help pages. For "Downloaded video with music" we counted the steps from a video file to a downloaded video using the same rule for every tool: every step the vendor’s guide lists is counted, a step is optional only where the product says so, and opening the tool is not counted. Where a vendor documents no path that ends in a downloaded video, we say what it does document and give no number. Prices are as listed that day in US dollars; where a vendor shows only yearly billing, the cell says so.

"Not stated" means we did not find it on the vendor’s pages, not that the tool lacks it. Sonilo is our product; its row comes from the product as it works today, including its limits.
