Best Suno alternatives

Eight tools compared for people leaving Suno or shopping around: which ones sing, what you get free, what it costs, and what the licence lets you do with the music.

The right Suno alternative depends on what you used Suno for. If you want songs with vocals, a few tools do that too. If you were really after background music for videos, streams or games, instrumental tools fit better and often license more clearly. For reference, Suno’s pricing page shows a Free plan with 50 credits a day, no song downloads and no commercial rights, Pro at $8 a month and Premier at $24 a month. Each fact below links to the vendor’s own page.

Updated October 2026 · Sonilo makes one of the tools on this list, so every claim about the others links to that tool's own page.

TL;DR

  • Instrumental music from a description, or music for a video you already have: Sonilo (we make it). It came out ahead of Suno v5.5 on 10 of 13 text to music metrics in a public evaluation, and it can write the music from your video. It does not sing.
  • Songs with vocals, closest to Suno: Udio, ElevenLabs Music or Mureka.
  • Background beats you edit bar by bar, with a licence that outlives the subscription: Soundraw.
  • Owning the copyright of what you make: AIVA on its Pro plan.
  • Background music from a Fairly Trained certified model: Beatoven.ai; very long beds and an API: Mubert.

How we ranked

Sonilo is first because it is the one tool here with public measurements against Suno itself.

audio_eval, an open source evaluation toolkit (MIT license; its citation file lists authors at The Chinese University of Hong Kong), publishes text to music results on MusicCaps for Sonilo Music v1.1 against Suno v5.5. Sonilo comes out ahead on 10 of 13 metrics, including text match (CLAP), KL divergence and all four Fréchet distances. Suno is ahead on three Audiobox aesthetics measures: content usefulness, production complexity and production quality.

What this does not show: audio_eval includes none of the other tools on this list, and automatic metrics are not listening tests. It also compares instrumental music; Sonilo does not make songs with vocals, so if vocals are why you used Suno, start with Udio, ElevenLabs Music or Mureka. The order after Sonilo is editorial: tools that sing come first, then instrumental tools by how much they let you do with the music.

How we checked

On October 9, 2026 we read each vendor’s own product, pricing, help and licence pages. Prices are as listed that day; where a vendor shows only yearly billing or another currency, the cell says so. Udio’s pricing page and terms did not load in our check, so we give its credit allowances from its help center and leave its prices and licence as not stated. Stable Audio is not on the list because its pages show no prices or plan terms.

"Not stated" means we did not find it on the vendor’s pages, not that the tool lacks it. Sonilo is our product; its row comes from the product as it works today, including its limits.
