Can I upload my own subtitles for a Sonilo video translation?
Short answer
Yes, Sonilo accepts one .srt or .vtt subtitle file per language, up to 1 MB each, and the translated voice then says exactly those lines. Upload a file for every language you picked, or for none. If you have no subtitles, turn on Proofread first to check and edit the translation before the video is made.
Uploading subtitles
- Formats: .srt or .vtt, up to 1 MB per file.
- One per language: add a file for each language you picked, or remove them all. A mix is not accepted.
- Checked before you start: Sonilo flags cues with no text, overlapping or out of order times, or times past the end of the video, and you can fix them in the editor.
- One video at a time: subtitles belong to one video, so they are off when you translate several at once.
Proofread first
Instead of uploading subtitles, turn on Proofread first. Sonilo stops after it has transcribed and translated the video, and you can correct what was heard (that line is translated again), edit the translated lines, or remove lines, then confirm. You are charged when you confirm. You cannot upload subtitles and proofread on the same translation. The number of videos you can have waiting in proofreading depends on your plan.
Subtitle files back
When the translation was made from uploaded subtitles or a proofread script, the finished translation also comes with an .srt subtitle file for each language. Downloading it needs a paid plan.
