Royalty-Free Bullet Sound Effects

100k+ free sound effects, growing every day. Bullet sound effects for everything after the trigger: ricochets and zings, whizzes past the camera, bursts of impacts on metal, glass and dirt, and brass shell casings dropping, bouncing and rolling on concrete. Use them to sell a gunfight in games, action edits and trailers, or to add detail between shots. They are short and punchy, so you can layer several into a burst. Pair them with the shots in gun sounds, and with a glass shatter when a window takes a hit. Free MP3 & WAV for commercial use. No account or credit needed.

How to use bullet sound effects in a video

Put the whiz before the hit

A bullet passing the camera is heard as a quick whiz, then whatever it strikes. Place the whiz a few frames before the impact or ricochet, with the shot itself from gun sounds at the start of the chain, so shot, flight and hit read as one event rather than three.

Match the impact to the surface

Hollow metal rings and pings, dirt gives a dull puff, glass shatters. Pick each clip by what the bullet hits in the shot, and when a burst sprays across a room, alternate surfaces and clips so a long volley does not sound like one recording on repeat.

Drop the casings after the noise

Shell casings are the detail that lives in the quiet after a firefight. Lay brass bouncing on concrete or a shotgun shell rolling to a stop just after the last shot, clear and close, and match the floor in the picture: concrete rings brightly, linoleum is duller and shorter.

Bullet sound effects: questions

Are there gunshots in this category?

No, this page covers what happens after the trigger: whizzes, ricochets, impacts and shell casings. The shots themselves are in gun sounds. Build a gunfight by placing a shot from there, then a whiz or ricochet from here, then an impact or a casing drop.

How do I make a ricochet sound believable?

A ricochet needs something hard to bounce off, so put the zing where the bullet could plausibly hit metal or stone, ideally with a spark or a puff of dust on screen. Use them sparingly: one or two in a burst feel real, while a ricochet on every shot starts to sound like an old western.

How do I build a burst of bullet impacts?

Stagger short impacts a frame or two apart instead of stacking them on the same frame, change the surface and pitch slightly from hit to hit, and keep the whole burst under the gunfire. When a window takes a round, end the burst with a shatter from glass.

Sound effects FAQ

Can I use these downloads in commercial projects?

Yes. Every file is free to download and use in personal and commercial projects — monetized videos, ads (including paid ad campaigns), client work, apps, websites and games — under the library license on this page, with no credit needed. Sonilo does not register library sound effects with YouTube Content ID. A free download doesn’t include a license certificate; on Pro and above you can get one for any file here. Audio you generate in your account follows your plan’s terms instead.

Do I need an account to preview or download a sound?

You can listen and download MP3 or WAV files directly from this library without signing in. Creating new audio with the AI generator requires a Sonilo account.

What is the difference between MP3 and WAV?

MP3 is a compressed file that is convenient for quick previews and smaller projects. WAV is uncompressed and useful when you will edit, layer or process the sound. Both versions of a library sound use the same library license.

What if I cannot find the sound I need?

Describe the sound in the search box. If there are no matches, choose the AI generation option to bring that description into Sonilo’s sound effects generator. New accounts receive free credits; generation uses credits, and available exports and usage rights depend on your plan.

How is this different from a traditional sound library?

You can start with a ready-to-download sound or use your description to create a new one in the same product. Sonilo also offers video-to-sound-effects workflows, so you can move from finding a sound to making audio for a particular scene.

Can I share or embed a sound?

Each sound has a permanent detail-page link. Use Share to copy that link, or Embed to copy an HTML audio player with a link back to the sound. Your website editor must allow HTML audio; pasting a URL alone does not automatically embed it.

Can I make sound effects for an uploaded video or through an API?

Sonilo supports video-driven sound effects as well as text descriptions. Open the sound effects product page for the available workflows, or use the developer documentation for API integration. Account generation and API usage follow their own credit and licensing terms.
